COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Introduction to Keelboat Cruising (IVQ) course is part of the Quebec Sailing Federation’s curriculum. This course is recommended for those with little or no sailing experience who wish to acquire basic sailing skills, while developing their abilities in a relaxed environment and at their own pace.
IVQ certification
Throughout your course, your instructor will assess your ability to follow instructions as a crew member and to take part in maneuvers aboard the boat. You will also be asked to complete a workbook to assess your understanding of the terminology and concepts involved in this course. Once completed, your instructor will review the answers as a group (or individually if you have booked your course privately). Candidates who achieve a passing grade of 70% or more, and who demonstrate their practical skills consistently throughout the course, will be awarded the Brevet Initiation à la voile sur Quillard. For a detailed description of the certificate and its objectives, please click here.
Sailing area
Lac des Deux-Montagnes is considered an exceptional place to learn to sail. Its vast expanse of water offers a safe and relatively uncrowded environment, allowing beginners to sail in complete safety, while benefiting from variable wind conditions for an enriching learning experience.
