INITIATION TO LIGHT SAILING

• 12 hrs •

The 12-hour introductory course to light sailing on a catamaran represents an exceptional opportunity to develop basic sailing skills. As light sailing, especially on a catamaran, is more reactive than cruising sailing, the participant is encouraged to understand the subtleties of the sport of sailing and to react more quickly to maneuvers. The aim of this course is to enable participants with no previous sailing experience to achieve a safe level of autonomy on the water and, in most cases, to be able to rent a boat from the yacht club.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The 12-hour course is divided into 4 sessions of 3 hours each, and is taught on beach and sport catamarans. It is also possible to give the course on your own boat (travel costs extra, please contact us at 450-472-8042 to book). To guarantee optimum progress, we recommend that you book your course for a maximum of 3 weeks.

Certification for club rental

At the end of your course, depending on the level of competence and autonomy achieved, your instructor will evaluate your skills and inform you whether you are authorized to rent boats at our club. If necessary, he or she may recommend additional courses to ensure a safe level of autonomy.

Sailing area

Lac des Deux-Montagnes is considered an exceptional place to learn to sail. Its vast expanse of water offers a safe and relatively uncrowded environment, allowing beginners to sail in complete safety, while benefiting from variable wind conditions for an enriching learning experience.

Further information

Courses are given privately or semi-privately (groups of maximum 3 students) and are taught in French. For courses in English, please contact us by phone at 450-472-8042.

It is possible to book two courses on the same day (AM and PM). Please note, however, that water sports require a minimum level of physical fitness. For light sailing courses (sailing on dinghies and catamarans), participants must be able to regularly pass under the boom to carry out maneuvers and remain seated on the boat for extended periods.

For important information to consider before your course, please refer to our document “Important information to know for your course”.
